NBSP Community Group campaigns for garden PDF Print E-mail

A residents' group formed in March is campaigning to create a community garden in wasteland near Portswood School, and is having an input into developments at Portswood Recreation Ground.

NBSP Community Group, which is centred around the area near Portswood Primary School, wants to transform wasteland on a 3/4 acre site on the corner of Northcote, Brickfield and Somerset roads, into a community garden that could be used "by charities, church, external organisations and by the wider Southampton communities".

They say work would be completed by "by volunteers from the community, people from Southampton transition, and volunteers from Southampton University Student Union clubs."

Locals were delighted when plans to build flats on the land were rejected in April.

NBSP is also having an input into the development of Portswood Rec
