artists impression of Wickes site development Orchard Homes have described their approach to sustainable development and parking provision on the Wickes site in Portswood in the latest issue of the Highfield Residents Association newsletter.
The development will comprise 102 houses
and flats.
Orchard Homes Planning Manager Mark Sennitt describes in the newsletter that in line with City Council parking policy the development includes no more than 0.6 of a parking space per 2 bedroom flat, and no more than an average 1.5 spaces per dwelling .
Mr Sennitt describes the development as a "gateway feature" for Portswood when approached from the south.
He also outlines a range of environmental features included in the development:
"We plan to use higher levels of insulation to save energy. We've also introduced a sustainable urban drainage system so that when water lands on the ground it soaks in rather than run into the sewage system. We also have a central boiler for the apartments with solar panels in the roofs to provide energy to light the communal areas".
